Student Wellbeing

At Rockbank Primary School, we have a comprehensive approach to supporting students with their wellbeing needs. We have a Wellbeing team of staff who meet regularly to discuss student support needs and create the direction for the work across the school. We believe that if students feel safe and supported in their wellbeing needs, learning thrives.

We understand the importance of wellbeing and social and emotional learning for our students. Our program includes the Respectful Relationships program, which teaches students about positive relationships, respect for others, and how to navigate social and emotional challenges.

Our work is underpinned by our school values of Respect, Safety, Togetherness and Learners.

Our Wellbeing program is designed to support students in developing a positive sense of self, strong social and emotional skills, and an understanding of healthy relationships. Through a range of lessons, discussions, and practical activities, our students learn how to develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes they need to thrive in life. We also focus on how to manage emotions, build strong and respectful relationships, and make positive choices for their wellbeing.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

At Rockbank Primary School, we believe in acknowledging positive behaviour and creating a safe, calm, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students. Over the last few years, we have implemented the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support approach, which focuses on promoting positive behaviour, reducing low level behaviour, and creating a school culture that supports student success.

Our Positive Behaviour Support approach uses a proactive, whole-school approach to promoting positive behaviour and being consistent in addressing any behaviour challenges that may arise. With a focus on teaching positive behaviour, creating a consistent approach across the whole school with clear expectations and rules, our approach is designed to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

Wellbeing Support

Rockbank Primary School employs a Social Worker who supports our students, staff and families with their wellbeing needs. We acknowledge there may be times where students need additional assistance to ensure their mental health and wellbeing is supported.
